Suzuki GSX 1300 R Hayabusa -- The "Busa"
Ever since Suzuki came out with the Hayabusa I have wanted to own one. Other priorities, both time wise and money wise never really made that a possibility but I finally was able to add one to the garage in August, 2010.
I picked up a used 2004 Hayabusa from a guy in Calgary. It had 18252 km on the odometer when I got it. The bike was in very good shape physically, but had not been ridden for a while. He had been trying to sell it all spring and summer so was not running perfectly. Here are a few pictures of the bike a few days after getting it home. My friend Cam was nice enough to go check out the bike, and also actually take delivery of it as well as pay for it as well until I could get up there to pick it up and get him a cheque. Thanks again Busster!!!
The bike had a few issues that I needed to address right away.
- Tires
- Leaking Fork Seals
- Backfiring on Decelleration
Accessories
A few accessories are in order for this bike just to make it more usable for me.
Top Case
As much as I hate to add a top case, it just makes the bike practical for me to use for everyday riding. I ordered a Top Case mount from Twisted Throttle and the mounting plate for the Givi V46 Tech case I already had on the ZX11. This was one of the few mounts I could find. They also offer a side case mount as well that I may add down the road.
Throttlemeister
I had the Throttlemeister throttle lock on the ZX11. It is a very well made set, and I had the heavy ends to reduce vibration in the handlebars. The same basic kit works on the Hayabusa, just needed to order a new adapter kit from Throttlemeister.
Powerlet
Need to power up a few other items, such as the J&M Integratr and Midland CB radio, as well as possibly the GPS as well. Nothing beats the clean install that can be done with Powerlet outlets.
